Proverbs 22:6 has a priceless wisdom for us, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it”. We hold their hands for a short time, but their hearts forever. The early years are important in moulding the values and character of a child.
I attended kindergarten many years ago, but I fondly remember the years I spent in a church kindergarten. It was fun and there were always things and events to look forward to. Looking back, my teachers showed me that I was special. I enjoyed the stories and activities. Playtime was always the highlight of the day.
I can still remember Mrs Soh, the principal (who was always so nice to us). More importantly, I heard stories that had a big impact on my thinking. I also had good teachers and role models.
The kindergarten I attended as a child will always have a special place in my heart.
In the same way, at BRMCK, we want to be able to do something special for every child. We want to show them that they are unique and special in the eyes of God. We want them to grow up to be principled leaders. We want to light a fire in their hearts to be curious and imaginative, to dare to dream and be creative. We can certainly do this together with all parents, family members and the communities around us.
As the poet, W.B. Yeats, said, “Education is not the filling of a pot but the lighting of a fire”. Let us together make the learning journey of your child an extraordinary one here at BRMCK!
Ms. Sharon Ngoi

By way of backgroud, my younger daughter, Megan Chi, was in the bilingual Montessori programme in N2, before switching to full Chinese Montessori in K1 (this year). My elder daughter, Lauren Chi, was in bilingual Montessori in N2 and K1, before switching to full Chinese Montessori in K2 (2019). Lauren was in the pioneer full Chinese Montessori class. Under the bilingual Montessori programme, both girls were placed in classes comprising students from all levels. In the full Chinese Montessori programme, both girls were placed in classes comprising students from K1 and K2. I have nothing but praise for both the bilingual and full Chinese Montessori programmes. The Teachers are nurturing, approachable and engaging. Importantly, learning is made fun and enjoyable. My elder daughter thoroughly enjoyed herself and my younger daughter loves attending school. The Montessori programme compliments the Mainstream Programme (which comprises children of the same level). The Montessori programme gives the children the opportunity to interact with children across all levels on a daily basis. This is important. The older kids are under “pressure” to behave and set a good example to their younger peers. It is an excellent opportunity for the older kids to be big brothers and sisters – be it teaching them to read or doing simple things like feeding them, helping them turn on the tap, etc. In turn, the younger kids will aspire to be like the older kids – in terms of their attitude to want to learn more and match up with the older kids. Some competition is good competition. I would like to express my gratitude to the school and teachers for their dedication and love towards my girls. Many thanks, Mrs Chi
